Phew, what a year it's been so far! Only two months in and already we've launched new tools, exciting features, and welcomed new team members.
And, drum roll... we've a new office opening in San Francisco!
We first hit the US in 2015, when we opened an office in New York City. Interest in Talkwalker's social media analytics platform was and remains high, and our US customer base was increasing rapidly. Opening the NYC office was the obvious next step in our growth strategy. The new office opening in San Francisco is the logical move towards driving our growth in the States.
Why San Francisco?
Let's see! The Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco Giants, the 49ers, and Russian Hill. Not forgetting that Tony Bennett carelessly left his heart there and Al Capone holidayed on the Rock!
Seriously, San Francisco is a city that encourages innovation and technology, rivalling Silicon Valley as a centre for tech talent. It's the perfect fit and we'll be joining many big-name brands headquartered there including Twitter, Pinterest, Dropbox, Salesforce, Reddit, and Mozilla.

Yeti high five to John Zhao who joins us as Head of Sales - West Coast. He has a notable track record in building and leading sales teams that have gone on to increase revenue considerably. We recently shared hugely exciting news - we were awarded funding of €5 million! This injection of cash is being put towards accelerating development of our artificial intelligence capabilities. We already offer business impact metrics, image recognition, advanced geolocation, IQ Apps, and the virality map; with awe-inspiring future projects.
The funding also means we can continue with our geographic expansion' opening more offices in Europe and the US, and hiring new talent.
What do we have planned for the rest of 2017? You'll have to wait and see but you can be sure, it's all super-exciting!
