Sales Development Manager

Talkwalker is at a time of rapid growth. With over 2000 clients globally we're leading the charge on being the world-leading consumer intelligence company. We work with brands to deliver AI-powered Insight to empower them to uncover, understand, monitor and action consumer intelligence.  We're growing our sales department and need an experienced SDM who can lead the recruitment, onboarding and performance management of a team of sales development representatives. We need someone who can help shape, define and embed a forward-thinking, inclusive and dynamic sales culture.   While you don't need to be a subject matter expert, this role is for someone who is interested in how the marketing, press, communications, digital, innovation and insights teams at organisations leverage data for better business decision making. Consumer Intelligence is straightforward, the application is nuanced. We're looking for someone who demonstrates both the passion and capability of building a world-class sales development team in the Consumer Intelligence world.

So what are the main responsibilities?

  • We've built our technology and services from the ground up, and we've expanded beyond social listening and monitoring to lead the broader landscape of 'consumer intelligence'.
  • We're constantly innovating so we can help our clients both react to what's happening in their online worlds as well as prepare for new opportunities through our growing exploratory research capability.    

  • Managing the SDR team is at the heart of the role, but other key things include:  

  • Be a great coach and mentor. We're fostering a culture of openness and actively encourage ideas and new ways of working - we need someone who can get great results from their team through a positive and inclusive management approach   
  • Be a builder. We need you to get this function off the ground. We have a small team in place but need someone who loves building and developing. We are seeing the demand in the market however we need a structure to be able to qualify and engage where we have the best opportunity for success. More importantly how this all connects with the internal ecosystem to work with Sales/Marketing/Customer Success to show continuous improvement.
  • Open minded approach to recruitment.
  • Talkwalker is a technology business for consumer intelligence. We're a human, technology and insights business so we attract talent from different industries. We want this reflected in the make-up of our SDR team .
  • Sales tools best practice. We love our tech stack. We use a range of tools and are open to investment in this space. We need someone to evaluate existing and new technologies to ensure the team have what they need to do their job effectively. 
  • Reporting and process. The tech allows us to scale but we need to understand how we best support the team.  You'll have 1-to-1s with your SDR team and put in slick reporting structures that you'll regularly present to the senior management team

  • First off, we need you to have great experience developing and managing an SDR team. This could be in the world of SaaS, digital agencies, media or any walk of life where the clients you've prospected to need and / or use consumer intelligence and supporting tools.  

  • Secondly, you need to have strong outbound experience. We're in hunter mode, looking to proactively identify and engage prospects through smart, engaging outreach to build on our inbound capabilities. Then understand how to qualify the opportunity to deliver an engaging pipeline to the business (experience with MEDDICC or similar would be lovely). 

  • It goes without saying we need someone who has a great track record of managing a high performing sales development team, but we're also looking for someone who has a positive and inclusive management style. Culture at Talkwalker is very important and we want to make sure we nurture and develop all the SDRs for a long-term career with us. 

  • You also need to be someone adept at analysing sales performance data and presenting this in a transparent, factual and consultative way to the leadership team. We want to know what we can be doing better just as much as celebrating success! 

  • Finally, you need to be adept at adopting and rolling out new sales enablement technologies and proficiency with is a must!

  • This role is based in our London Office (Soho Area). As this is a management position, we believe in the importance of an in-person team dynamic. This is where great ideas come from and a healthy dollop of banter too. So while some remote working is possible, this will be predominantly an office based role.
