Talkwalker is seeking a Legal Counsel specialized in German business law and in the SaaS (Software as a Service) industry, with a specific focus on social media and/or copyright law, to further strengthen our legal team and contribute to the success of our company. This job will be based in Luxembourg.
 
The Legal Department is responsible for supporting Talkwalker’s business activities, management, and client facing operations, as well as in internal matters and strategic decisions, to protect the interests of Talkwalker and facilitating its development globally.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day expertise in all commercial aspects (such as drafting and negotiating contracts and RFPs) with a demonstrated ability to provide concise and business-focused legal advice in the DACH market (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and in other regions globally. 
  • Support the Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Management teams regarding legal matters pertaining to the SaaS industry and global IP law.
  • Ensure the company abides by applicable laws and regulations, drafting and implementing key processes and protection measures, and providing legal advice to management.
  • Contribute to building a portfolio of in-house legal knowledge on certain key domains (data privacy, copyright, etc.).
  • Work in tandem with a team consisting of French, American, and Polish trained lawyers.
  • Qualifications:

  • You have a minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a lawyer or in-house counsel. German law qualification and/or prior experience as an in-house counsel supporting the DACH region would be considered a plus.
  • You have familiarity with internet laws and issues, including data protection, privacy, and/or cyber-security.
  • You have a university degree in law, with a strong preference for a focus in intellectual property law, copyright law, commercial law, and/or computer/internet law.
  • You are native German speaker and fluent in English. A third language and/or legal background in another European country would be considered a plus.
  • You are a strategic thinker, an excellent communicator (both written and verbal), strong negotiator, and a keen problem solver who knows how to assess risk and recommend solutions that balance business and risk perspectives.
  • You are flexible and have an eagerness to work on a broad range of legal matters and a readiness to manage time differences to support our global offices.
